Duquesne Light has announced a new service to benefit all regional customers. The RainDetect® blackout feature lets customers know, via interruption of power, immediately when rain has begun falling in the area.
From the press release: "Our relentless pursuit of excellent customer service allows us to help the Pittsburgh area have the most up-to-date information on rainfall in their area. As soon as the first drops fall, everyone will immediately know it is raining."
A spokesperson added, "Plus, this is cheaper than the roll of duct tape and wad of chewing gum it would take to fix the problem."
